WORMXSOIL

Transforming waste

We take the fruit and vegetable waste retailers pay to dispose of, feed it to earthworms, and turn it into organic fertiliser and live bait. A closed loop that puts nutrients back into soil instead of methane into the air.

The problem

Good food is going to landfill

Wasted food is lost value twice over — once when it is thrown away, and again when it rots in landfill and releases methane.

1.3bn

wasted every year

67.2%

of urban Romanian households

How it works

A loop that closes

Nothing leaves the cycle — and we are automating the slow, manual parts so it scales beyond a single site.

Step 01

Vegetable waste

Collected from markets, retailers and distributors — we pay for what is a disposal cost to them.

Step 02

Worms

The waste becomes feed for composting earthworms, which digest it and multiply.

Step 03

Fertiliser

Worms produce vermicompost — a dense, living organic fertiliser — plus surplus worms.

Step 04

The next crop

Vermicompost goes back into the ground and grows fruit, vegetables and trees.

Why vermicompost

Feeds the soil, not just the plant

Conventional NPK
  • Deep chemical penetration can contaminate soil long term.
  • Soil structure and biodiversity degrade over time.
  • Fertility becomes dependent on continued chemical input.
Vermicompost
  • Applied at the root zone, minimising deep infiltration.
  • Builds soil structure and biological activity.
  • Yields up by 15–80% depending on the crop, without chemical build-up.
EU policy

Our model sits inside the EU Farm to Fork Strategy: halving food waste by 2030, promoting organic fertilisers over chemical input, and recycling organic waste back into agriculture.

Products

What we sell

Organic fertiliser

Vermicompost

Sold by the litre, wholesale or retail — for agriculture, organic farms, landscaping and home growers.

Live bait

Fishing worms

Sold live by the kilogram to bait retailers, fishing supply stores, commercial fisheries and recreational fishers.

Where we are

Supply secured

An agreement with a major Romanian distributor

An agreement with a major Romanian distributor gives us a steady, low-cost supply of raw material.

Operations

Two active work centres

Bucharest and Prahova — positioned close to where the waste is generated and the product is used.
